"We would like to acknowledge that our Garden Gallery is on Traditional Treaty 6 territory, a traditional meeting grounds, gathering place, and travelling route to the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene and Nakota Sioux. We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries." |
Welcome to the 127th Open Air Gallery
Largely during Covid we have been locked in. Early on we posted a "U Matter 2 Me" sign in our front yard. This sign made an impact on our community. It made a local blog and the local news. We had such a positive response to this sign that we decided an Open Air Gallery could be a next step to bring a smile to our local community - when smiles are so needed right now. We were inspired by those little free libraries popping up. We were thinking of building one - but we have at least three in a few block radius. We teased out the idea but never actioned it till now.
Every month we hope to showcase two pieces from an Edmonton based artist in our front yard. Stop by to check them out: 12117 127th Ave NW T5L 0Z6. Are you an artist and want to raise your profile in the community - be the next to be showcased in this high drive by and walk by location. Support a local artist or support your local community by buying the piece on display. An artist may choose to raffle their art and may choose to donate the proceeds to a local or meaningful charity. Virtually check out previous pieces and artists which were on display. Inspired, build your own open Air Gallery and let's link up virtually so Edmonton can take a tour and enjoy a safe open air experience across the city. Need any guidance on how to get started. Check out the inspiration for our Garden Gallery it all started with a simple sign: U Matter 2 Me. My family was inspired by the positive impact our simple "U Matter 2 Me" sign had on our community. Our community is not through Covid. Everyone is exhausted. Everyone wants it to end. Social distancing is as important as it was a year ago. So over the Winter we planned to open an Open Air Experience (Our Garden Gallery) for our community to enjoy when they walk, bike or drive by. We created an Art Wall to show off local artists and raise money for artists or local charities. Gallery & Public Spaces are largely closed. We hope to inspire a community to build their own Open Air Experience and build a shared network and grow like the Little Library Movement. Building a virtual tour for Edmonton over the Summer of 2021 and perhaps beyond. Inspired and looking for help to start email: welcome@MontageInMotion.com If you are an artist who wants to raise your profile during Covid and raise money for your next project or charity reach out and maybe you can be our next exhibit: welcome@MontageInMotion.com

We have installed a new art exhibit “Boys _n Cr_s_s”. This piece was inspired in part by Warren Farrell and John Gray’s book - The Boy Crisis. It is a thick book. In parts, it explorers how boys/men are being left behind. More men are quietly dropping out of life. Lost boys are more likely to hurt themselves and in extreme cases hurt others. It explores how much this impacts everyone. It explores how to advocate for boy/men without taking away from others. Boys are being quietly left behind. We do need to create spaces that inspire our boys to participate in their potential.
Proud of my son who has been audio booking and discussing “The Boy Crisis” with me. Augustus helped me to draft the Crisis Campaign Flag on display. My son and I stand up for the Boys is Crisis. Will you have us stand alone? If anyone wants to book club this - drop me a message. We would like to thank Paul Sims for allowing us to permanently fix his “Be Yourself” art to our Garden Gallery Frame. We appreciate you creating and sharing a piece to show love and acceptance. Calling All Local Artists?
Calling all muralists, photographers, painters, etc... Every month we hope to switch out our installation to profile a new local artist's work. Are you looking for a Covid-safe way to share your work with the Edmonton community. We are on 127th and it is a very busy road and side walk. Raise your profile and perhaps some proceeds for you or the community.
